Dancewave’s Summer Camps II & IV culminated on July 17. The participants and their parents had a great time as did we while we are now excited to see how Summer Camps I & III shape up! Stay tuned to learn how that goes.

In Summer Camp II, little Dancewavers ages 5-6 yrs participated in Creative Modern, Creative Ballet, and Creative Storytelling classes taught by Madeline Irmen. Madeline herself began dancing at the age of six in Toledo, OH and is thrilled to be sharing her love for dance with her students at Dancewave! One of the parents of the participating students, Peter Villani, testifies his and his son’s admiration for Madeline’s style of teaching – “engaging, encouraging, dynamic and competent”. Peter’s son, one of our littler Dancewavers, loved participating in the little ‘show’ at the end of the camp!

Summer camp IV was targeted at students ages 10+. They participated in Ballet, Modern, Stretch classes taught by Matthew Westerby and Jazz class taught by Jessica Cipriano. Matthew Westerby has taught at Dancewave since 2010. His company was formed in 2009 and has been the dance company-in-residence for Project Poetry Live! -a major arts-in-education initiative in western Connecticut reaching over 1,200 public school children annually -for the past five seasons. Jessica Cipriano, also from Connecticut, currently teaches at multiple studios in Brooklyn and conducting movement classes in pre-schools.
