Shen Wei’s Natural Body Development Technique

This class serves as an introduction to Shen Wei’s Natural Body Development Technique and a chance to learn the basis for the repertory of Shen Wei Dance Arts.  We will explore breath, internal energy, center-shifting, momentum, spirals, rotations and flow through both technical and creation-based exercises.  Pulling from individual and collective movement research, each dancer will have a chance to work on both group and solo material within the repertory works.  Great attention will be paid to investigating the details of the movement and understanding the inspiration and context for the choreography.

Shen Wei Dance Arts Repertory

This repertory session is a unique opportunity to learn excerpts from selected Shen Wei Dance Arts repertory.  Through the detailed investigation of moving ideas and compositional form we will investigate dance in relationship to other art forms as a means to open the body and mind to new ways of approaching performance. Pulling from both individual and collective movement research, each dancer will have a chance to work on both group and solo material within the repertory works.
